To bitch or not to bitch
My OB practice ran an HIV test on me without my consent. I, in fact, have the consent form in my living room right now, which means they most certainly do not have it.

To bitch, or not to bitch.....

Not like you can press the issue unless you want to bring in a lawyer, but you could give them a friendly nudge saying they should check their documentation available before pulling tests out of hand. It'll help them suss out issues with their HIPAA compliance in the future.

After all they're expecting someone to pay for this, right? Whether it's you or your insurance, it's still a rip off.

I'm mostly angry on the principle of the matter. I was going to refuse the HIV test because I don't like the idea of non-anonymous testing, and I get tested very regularly cuz I'm a blood donor. So, I know my HIV status, and I thought the test was totally unnecessary for me and somewhat unethical.

I would bitch and tell your insurance company when they try to bill it. Very RUDE. Ask them for an explanation!

My doctors have done that to me. I have had more STD tests than you can imagine, despite the fact I tell them, "I just had one last month. Trust me. I'm not a whore. I would know." and they still give them to me. If I were you, I would flip a shit...I did that finally and they stopped testing.
